Sweet Macaroons

Hello again.

Today I have a deliciously sweet card to share. If you know anything about me at all, it is that I have a VERY sweet tooth. Desert is my favourite course of every meal. ๐Ÿ˜ One of my favourite sweet treats is macaroons. Those delightfully sweet, melt in your mouth treats have me salivating just thinking about them. If you, like me, are obsessed with these little bites of heaven then you know all about  Laudreรฉ.  Now as a card maker, I find their advertising as amazing as their desserts. So when Altenew came out with their macaroon stamp set, I knew I had to have it so I could make cards inspired by these delicious photos.

Don't they just make you want some macaroons? (It's taking everything I have right now not to hop in my car and visit our local mall that has a Laudreรฉ store.)

Now for my card:

To make this card, I stamped the macaroons from Altenew's Handmade Tags stamp set onto white Neenah white card stock with some vanilla versacolor pigment ink. This allowed me to do some no-line colouring. I used zig clean colour brush markers to colour these in and then used a white gel pen to accentuate the highlights. The wreath in the centre is from a Wpls9 stamp set called Heartfelt Holidays. The wreath and sentiment were heat embossed using gold embossing powder. I tried the panel down and mounted it onto a gold mirror panel and then mounted that onto a mint green Hero Arts card base.

This is one of my favourite cards I've made and it went to a very special cousin for her birthday.
I hope you enjoyed todays post.

Thanks you for stopping by.

Budding Thanks

Hello again! ๐Ÿ˜„
I am back today with TWO cards! I know! It's like I'm on a roll or something. ๐Ÿ˜‚

So last week I made a trip to my LSS to place an order for the new Tim Holtz glass mat that was released at Creativation last month. While I was there I could not resist getting a few Altenew goodies to play with. One of my acquisitions was the AMAZING 'Budding Thanks' set.
It is honestly such a great stamp set. It makes it so easy to whip up a card that looks like you've spent hours making.
Here are the two cards I've made so far, but stay tuned because I think this set is going to get a serious workout. (There is one flower I haven't even used yet.๐Ÿ˜ฏ)

For this card I stamped each flower with the coordinating layers onto a 4.25 X 5.5 panel. Then I used some Copic markers in C1 and N2 to create the shadows around the flowers. This little detail makes such a difference in the depth and dimension it adds to the finished card.  I then went over each flower with a Wink of Stella shimmer brush pen to add some shimmer. Once this was done, I die cut it using the large scalloped frame from the MFT Blueprints 27 set.  Next I used a smaller scallop from the stitched scalloped mini stax set to cut out a frame in the centre of the panel. I mounted the large frame onto a black card base and used some foam tape to pop the frame in the centre up. The sentiment is the 'Many Thanks' die cut from Ellen Hutson. I cut off the word many and then heat embossed the thanks with some clear EP to add dimension. To finish off this card I added some clear rainstones from PTI.

For my second card I stamped the flowers and sentiment onto a 3X5.5 inch white card panel. Once I was done stamping I added some Wink of Stella to add some shimmer to the flowers and sentiment. I mounted the panel onto a silver glitter panel.  I then attached that to a soft stone card base.

See, easy as pie. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Well, I hope you enjoyed my offerings for today. thanks for stopping by.

MFT Space dude

Hello!
Anybody there???  ๐Ÿ˜‚ Just kidding. I am really bad at blogging though, aren't I? I'm thinking I should try harder to make the time to share my cards more often. ๐Ÿ˜‹ It's not that I don't make them, its just that I am not so good with sharing them. Well, that and the fact that 'last minute Lucy' over here, seems to always be making cards 5 minutes before I need them and end up either not taking photos or simply forgetting to come back and share them.
Anyway.... its still early into 2018 and therefore IMHO still ok to make positive changes, right? ๐Ÿ˜‰
So lets move along, shall we?
Today I have a card to share that I made for a birthday party my youngest son was invited to this weekend. I used the Space Explorer set from MFT for this one and it was SOOO much fun to make.

I started this card with an idea for the background that I wanted my space dude to be floating on. The earth was a free with 60 die I got a while ago with one of my MFT orders. It is one of my favourite dies. It was attached to a sentiment that read "you mean the world to me" but thanks to my old jewelry making days I had the tools on hand to cut that part off so that I could just use the earth as a stand alone die. I have had a lot of use of this die this way. The die only cuts out the continents, so once those were cut out, I used a circle stax die that fitted to make a mask. I masked off the background and went to work inking up the blue earth using distress inks. Once I was happy with the earth, I masked it off and got inky with my space background. I used a white gel pen and some studio calico white and shimmer sprays to create the stars.  The images (including the continents) were coloured with Copic markers. I used some glossy accents to add some interest and dimension to the moon, the ring around Saturn and the continents on the earth. Once everything was inked and coloured, I mounted it onto a silver glitter card stock. That, was then mounted onto a white card base on which I used a stitched die from lil inkers to create a stitching line detail. You can't see it in this photo (and I can't seem to upload the video I took ๐Ÿ˜ก) but the space guy is attached with an action wobbler, so he jiggles! EEKKK! 7 year olds get all the fun cards I tell ya!

Anyhoo... thats my card for today. I hope you like it. And come back tomorrow to see all the fun I have been having with some Altenew flowers.
Thanks for visiting me.

Muse: Christmas Visions

Hello!
I am very excited to be the Muse this month over on the Muse: Christmas Visions blog.

For my inspiration card I created a cute scene using a stamp set from Avery Elle called, 'Caroling Critters'. I started with some cracked pistachio distress ink to do some ink blending for the background. I then used the 'Wonkey stitched elle-ments' die to cut out the panel. My images were die cut, stamped and heat embossed onto some Bristol paper and coloured with Zig clean colour markers. I used an MFT die to cut the snow drift out and stamped the sentiment on it before popping it onto the base with some foam tape. Once I had all the images adhered in place, I attached it to a card base with some silver glitter paper to add some shine.

Thank you so much for visiting today and I hope you are inspired to play along.  Hop on over to the Muse:Christmas Visions blog to find out how to play along.

Hello everyone! Today I am super excited to be participating in Taheerah Atchia's Advent Calendar Extravaganza!  I was thrilled so flattered when Taheerah asked if I would be interested in participating.

Here's todays card:

For todays card I started with the snow globe from PTI. After cutting the base piece out of plain white card stock I went to work inking it up with a variety of distress ink colours. I then added some water droplets to give it some interest but decided I wanted some more texture, so I used a memory box stencil and some texture paste to create the snow. Once that was done I cut the Mama Elephant buildings out of black card stock and glued it onto a yellow base so to create "lights". For the front of the globe I used a combination of silver foil and silver glitter card stock.  I sandwiched the front and back together with double sided foam in between and added some chunky glitter, stars and micro beads to create the shaker element. The sentiment is from the WPlus 9  Heartfelt Holiday set, and is heat embossed with white EP on black card stock.  I always like to add little details that I think will add a little extra something to my cards and so I added some nail heads to the sentiment strip as well as the sides of the base of the snowglobe.
The little fairy is from the Lawn Fawn "Frosty Fairy Friends" set. I coloured her in with copics and a glitter gel pen. I'm not sure if you can see it or not, but the bottom of her skirt and her ear muffs are puffy. I used a liquid appliquรฉ pen and then used my heat gun to make it puff up.  I thought it was a fun touch.
Once I was done with the snow globe I used a stripped embossing plate from PTI,  some soft stone card stock and a scalloped die to create the matt that I mounted the snow globe onto. I attached it all to a plain white card base and that finished my card for today.

25 Days of Christmas tags day 16

Hello and welcome. Today I am excited to be playing along with the Muse: ChristmasVisions team, who are so excited to be sponsoring day 16 of Tracey McNeely's The 25 Days of Christmas Tags.
Our theme is vellum - to qualify this week, your project must be a tag and it must include vellum.
I personally love vellum. I don't use it nearly enough so this challenge was tons of fun.
I have 3 tags for you, I hope you enjoy them :)
For this first one, I wanted it to resemble a church window. I absolutely ADORE stained glass windows so this set is one of my favourites! :) I used an image from the PTI Stained Glass stamp set. I stamped and heat embossed the image with black EP onto a piece of vellum. I then coloured the image in using comic markers. Next I die cut the largest tag from the Lil' Inkers, Anytime Tags, die set twice out of white woodgrain card stock from Simon Says Stamp. One for the front and one for the back. I then used the co-ordinating die for the stained glass image and cut windows in both sides of the tag. I sandwiched the velum in between the two layers and adhered them together. I cut the frame out of gold foil card stock and added frames to both the front and back so the tag would look finished. Next I die cut the word Peace from PTI's wet paint die set three times with Smokey grey card stock and adhered them together. I added some shimmer with my wink of Stella brush pen before attaching it to the front of the tag. To finish this off I added some rain stones, some ribbon and some bells for an extra kick.

My Next tag is a variation of the first but I decided to simplify it:
The technique was exactly the same as the one above. For this tag I used the PTI tag sale #5 die. I used a gold wow embossing powder. I added a sentiment strip that was also heat embossed with the same gold powder. To finish this one off, I added some nail heads and a simple gold elastic cord.

And now for my third and final tag:
I used the PTI tag sale #3 die and cut two tags, one from some PTI printed vellum and one from some Birch Wood Veneer paper from Simon Says Stamp. The wreath and timings are from the WPlus 9 Woodland Wreaths stamp set and dies. Once I cut and stamped all the images I adhered them all together and then attached the wreath to the vellum tag. The banner die cut and sentiment are both from PTI's make it market Tinsel and Tags kit. The sentiment was heat embossed onto the strip of vellum using Zing EP in chocolate. I wanted to help the sentiment strip stand out so I used a light gold jellyroll pen to outline the strip. It really made a big difference. I tied the two tags together with just a simple gold mesh ribbon.
And there you have it :)

But before you move on, remember that there are prizes to be won both at The 25 Days and at MCV - please check out the blog posts Here, and Here, for more details.
And last but not least, a BIG thank you to all the awesome sponsors:)

I hope you find some time to play along. Thank you for visiting me.
Natasha :)
